What is phase 1 early ortho, and when should a child have their first orthodontic evaluation?

Also called “early interceptive orthodontics, phase 1 orthodontics typically starts between ages 6-9, when a child still has a mix of baby and permanent teeth. Early evaluations help guide jaw development, minimize crowding, and lower the chances of more invasive treatments later. We recommend bringing your child in for their first orthodontic check-up around age 7 for the best long-term results.
